Is A-Z a fully licenced kindergarten and young nursery?

A-Z International Centre for Children is a fully licenced kindergarten/preschool and young nursery (OM code: 200282 / Young Nursery identification no.: S0237250) Our International Curriculum was developed with reference to national curricula from Britain, Hungary, Australia and the USA. Our curriculum is flexible, challenging and inspiring, culturally sensitive yet international in approach and is meeting all the legally required education, safety, fire and health department regulations in force in Hungary.

Are there any after-school activities offered in your Centre?

There are a number of optional extra activities children can choose from: we have ballet, art, yoga, chess, piano, sports & gym, soccer and judo classes on offer. Some of these activities are available only from age 4 (yoga, piano, chess, soccer), while the other optional extra classes may be attended from age 2.5. For more information please click on the activity itself to read more information.

Can I enrol my child only part-time?

We offer part-time enrolment to families whose child is below the age of 3. In our Young Nursery groups it is possible to enrol your child for 3 half days or 3 full days or even 5 half days. However, in our Nursery, Pre-K and Kindergarten or Preschool groups we offer enrolment only for 5 full days. Children in these groups are offered a lot of different activities throughout the day; we can ensure the best possible development of a child if they are enrolled and attend 5 full days.

My child has special dietary requirements. Can you order gluten-free/dairy-free meals for them?

Our food provider, who possesses all the necessary licenses to provide meals in young nurseries and kindergartens in Hungary can also provide special meals. If your child requires a special diet, please provide a certificate from a gastroenterologist, which we will forward to our food provider for the special meal to be ordered.

How do I get feedback about my child’s progress?

Teachers give feedback to the parents about their children’s daily life at pick-up time. Teachers always make sure that each parent is briefed about their child’s day at the time when they come to pick up their child. However, more concise information is given to the parents three times during the school year: in October, when the goal setting meetings take place between the parents and the Group Leader; in February, when a very detailed and comprehensive assessment is given out to the parent summarizing the child’s development in all the important areas (fine-motor / gross-motor skills, cognitive, language, socio-emotional skills); and the final report in June, a summary of the goals achieved during the school year.

What are the communication channels between the Centre and parents?

  • Parents receive all official communication by email (info@atoz.hu).

  • Each class has a closed Facebook group where there is a weekly update showing the children’s daily activities.

  • Weekly development plan, which you will find printed out and displayed outside the class room and on the closed Facebook group.

  • At pick up time, the teachers have the opportunity to discuss your child’s day.

  • In the morning at drop off, although time is scarcer, we are still happy to talk if there is something important you or we should know.

  • Goal setting meeting in October with the Group Leader, concerning your child’s developmental plan for the school year.

  • Consolation hour can be arranged at any time during the year to discuss sensitive or longer topic.
